Course questions and answers.
How was the course developed?
We are public speaking trainers with over 30 years course experience behind us.
We have designed the course to go beyond what is normally expected of such a course.
We carefully examined the content and approach of other courses. (Many of which cost 2 or 3 times as much).
We interviewed people that had attended other public speaking training courses and determined what value and benefit they had actually received.
We examined the structure and content of many available courses, both live and online.
We wanted to learn for ourselves how we could provide the best training that was tailored to individual needs.
What were the results of the research?
The results of our investigations have all been incorporated into a series of courses designed to not only teach the building blocks of public speaking but crucially to also provide individual support for the personal public speaking development of each participant.
The SpeechMasters courses are limited to a small number of participants to ensure maximum individual practice, coaching and feedback time.
We recognise that course participants may be at any level in their speech making journey and so the aim of the course is to raise each person’s relative abilities in a way that suits them and helps them to achieve their personal goals.
What is different about the SpeechMasters courses?
This brings us to another important aspect of the course design.
We were constantly told by attendees to other courses or to speaking clubs that, whilst they may have felt that their confidence and speech knowledge had improved a little, they still felt that they did not have the ability to develop a good speech or talk.
They did not know how to craft a speech that explained or a speech that told a compelling story, or a speech that motivated an audience.
We have therefore woven into the SpeechMasters course the support and guidance to enable each person to develop their own message to share. The course incorporates sessions on speech research, speech design and speech writing. This is in addition to covering speech presentation and practice, in depth.
What types of speeches can be learned?
SpeechMasters will show how to include well proven speech elements within different types of speech.
There are important differences to understand between, for example, a best man’s speech and a technical speech.
The course will cover many types including ones from the following list of potential speech types;
motivational, educational, award, introductory, stump, conceptual, explanatory, humorous, story, apologetic, conversational, happy, sad, uplifting, biographical, acceptance, historical, developmental, extemporaneous, simple, complicated, dynamic, reactionary, and revolutionary!
Is it suitable for experienced speakers?
We do realise that some of you that are reading this description may feel that you have reached the stage where you are a ‘professional speaker’ and so may wonder whether the course will be of value to you. We confidently predict that everyone attending the SpeechMasters course will emerge a better speaker and will see that the investment in personal development has been well worth it.
There can be many benefits that accrue from participation; more confidence, better writing ability, stronger presentation skills, and a set of talks that people will pay to hear.
What outcome can be expected?
The aim is that everyone will emerge from the course better prepared with a series of prepared and rehearsed speeches of different lengths that can be used in different ways that are appropriate to their audience. Not only that but course members should be able to use the principles taught to enable them to write their own content for any occasion.
We will share methods that can structure, research and write a speech in a surprisingly short time.
We will share methods of learning a speech and being ready to present it.
We will share methods of remembering and presenting the speech effectively, using a panoply of techniques.
Is there proof of participation?
A framed printed personal certificate will be presented to all that complete the course. That certificate will not only confirm attendance and completion but will also have details of the extensive content of the course. The certificate is designed to enable it to be shown with pride as confirmation of the extensive elements contained in the course.
In addition to the certificate all attendees that complete the course will have the option of having an individually produced letter sent to a nominated person. Examples of recipients could be; a person’s boss, line manager, agency, HR department, parent or partner.
We have seen amazing outcomes from sending such letters in the past. We know of people that have been promoted, given a raise, and in one case removed from a redundancy list, all because of a letter confirming that the person had the initiative to undertake such personal development.
Can you guarantee success?
It must be stressed that the course is not one that can be taken in a passive way. Participants will be actively engaged and will need to fully commit to their personal development using the course content. There will be workshops and tasks to complete outside of the training sessions. There will also be online activities. Everything will be aimed at providing an environment that can produce individuals that are confident and capable of writing and presenting high quality speeches. Every participant that DOES actively participate can be guaranteed a successful outcome.
